Prof. Tamás Freund, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, received Prof. Tarmo Soomere, President of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, who arrived in Budapest for a meeting of the European Academies’ Science Advisory Council (EASAC).
The two academies have been conducting bilateral collaborations since 1990. During the meeting, the two presidents signed the renewed agreement on scientific cooperation and the protocol detailing the selection and evaluation procedures and financial guidelines of the joint research projects and individual visits under the agreement for the period of 2022–2024. The 2022-2024 protocol enables the funding of five joint mobility projects for the period.
Prof. Soomere, as Chair of the European Science Advisors Forum (ESAF), has also gathered information on the renewed mission of MTA and on its strengthened advisory role and activities in the support of policy-making.
